October is Here!

It’s the Month We’ve all been waiting for, Witches!

Blessed October!  Just like myself, so many of you have October as your favorite month.  The leaves changing, the pumpkins, the crisp air, being able to dig out your sweaters again, warm beverages, and Halloween/Samhain.

Since today is the first day of the month, I wanted to talk about monthly rituals.  I have rituals that I don’t do every month, or on the first, or only if I remember, but I’m trying to be more consistent.  It is also completely valid if you need to take time away from your rituals.  I am just coming back from a pause, myself.

I’m sure you have seen many people on social media doing the First of the Month Cinnamon ritual, where you blow cinnamon in your front door or wash your door with cinnamon water, to invite abundance for the month.  I used to be really good about doing this every month and I have kind of lapsed in the practice, however, I did make sure to do it today.  I chose to wash my door with cinnamon water.  I said a little spell over my dish of the concoction and stirred in my intention; then with a cloth, I wiped down my front door.  Something that is worth noting, you should consider energetically cleansing the inside of your house before doing your cinnamon ritual.  How can you invite abundance in when there is stagnant energy or negative blocks inside your home.

I personally use incense to smoke cleanse almost everything.  Occasionally, I will use a bundle of rosemary.  Just preference, you use what works for you.

Why do this at all? Cinnamon is a sacred spice used across many traditions to attract prosperity, clear stagnant energy, and provide spiritual protection.  I also like to burn cinnamon incense.  Why not take the opportunity to invite some financial abundance into your life.  Although, abundance does not have to be only about money, it can be abundance of food, love, freshly fallen leaves, the sky is the limit.

The first of the month is also a good time to refresh your money bowl.  Not everyone refreshes their bowl every month, some with the phases of the moon, some seasonally.  You do what you feel is right for you.  I also don’t always have a money bowl.

If the weather is nice where you are, you can do a meditation outside and focus on the leaves falling from the trees, the sound they make, the crunch when someone steps on them, how they smell, etc.

It has been quite rainy here today.  I enjoy sitting by the window with a warm cup of tea, watching the rain and of course reading, with the sounds of raindrops is also a favorite.

I hope that you have a very good week.

Be you. Be kind. Keep shining.

Angela
